PCB Slaps Rs20 Million Fine on Naseem Shah Over Social Media Violation

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board has penalized fast bowler Naseem Shah with a Rs20 million fine for breaching the terms of his central contract following a controversial tweet.

The board said the action was taken after identifying multiple violations of contractual clauses. A show-cause notice had been issued to the player on March 27, seeking clarification over the matter.

A three-member disciplinary panel reviewed his response and held formal proceedings on March 30. While Naseem Shah offered an unconditional apology, the committee ruled that the nature of the violations justified a substantial financial penalty.

Officials also confirmed that the pacer has parted ways with his social media advisor. The PCB has decided to blacklist the individual, barring them from working with any contracted players in the future.

The board reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, enforcing contractual obligations, and safeguarding the reputation of the game.
