PDM remains intact, its leader in opposition while the rest in power: Fazlur Rehman

TAUNSA: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, affirmed that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) the opposition alliance formed during the tenure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has not dissolved. Currently, its leader remains in the opposition, while the rest of the alliance members are now part of the government.

Addressing to public gathering in Taunsa, Fazlur Rehman criticized the continued exploitation of the country’s backwardness, asserting that Pakistan’s poverty is being wrongly perceived as a weakness. He reaffirmed that their struggle against oppression and injustice will persist relentlessly.

Fazlur Rehman also condemned the ongoing violence in Palestine, revealing that in the past year and a half, 60,000 civilians have been martyred due to bombings. “Your hands are stained with blood,” he stated, accusing the United States of being a “killer of human rights” and the Israeli Prime Minister of committing war crimes.

He further pointed out that both the United States and Europe share responsibility for supporting Israel. Additionally, he criticized Muslim leaders for their silence, stating that their inaction makes them complicit in the oppression. “In Gaza, children, youth, and the elderly are waiting for death,” he added.

The JUI-F leader also emphasized that they are representing the people in parliament, stressing that no decision has been made without consulting the opposition parties. He revealed that their proposed constitutional amendments included the establishment of a constitutional court to address political cases.

Fazlur Rehman highlighted the importance of raising political awareness among the public, particularly regarding election rigging.

It’s important to note that during former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s tenure, opposition parties formed the Pakistan Democratic Movement alliance, with Maulana Fazlur Rehman serving as its president.
