PECA case filed against KP CM Sohail Afridi over alleged Anti-State remarks

ISLAMABAD: Authorities have registered a case against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for allegedly issuing anti-state statements.

According to sources, the complaint was lodged at the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) through the Cyber Crime Reporting Center in Islamabad on behalf of the state.

The FIR accuses Chief Minister Afridi of spreading “misleading and inflammatory content” targeting state institutions via social media. It claims that his video messages contained false assertions intended to malign the reputation of national security bodies.

Investigators further stated that Afridi made the controversial remarks outside Adiala Jail, and the footage was later disseminated through the official Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media accounts. The FIR includes PECA provisions related to defamation and incitement of hatred against state institutions.
