WEB DESK: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has taken notice of the advertisements of gambling companies during sports events
During Pakistan and Australia’s Perth Test, the advertisements of the gambling company were aired on the official sports channel PTV, however, due to the ban, the first day’s game of the Test could not be aired on the official sports channel.
Later (PEMRA) issued a notice on advertising of gambling companies.The notice states that legal action will be taken against gambling companies airing advertisements, PEMRA also acknowledges the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s zero tolerance policy.According to the notice, no channel will enter into agreements with gambling related companies
Earlier, in the statement released by PTV, it was said that they accept the zero tolerance policy of the government when gambling advertisements are aired.
PTV said that discussions are ongoing with our broadcasters on this issue, they are talking to all state holders to stop gambling advertisements, they are hopeful that viewers will be able to watch the Pak Australia series once the issue is resolved
