Islamabad: The government has prepared initial draft of cyber crime amendment bill as an attempt to block fake news against state and state institutions.
Under the bill the person giving fake news will be punished for five to 10 years or one million fine.
A Digital Right Protection Authority will be established in the country. The authority has a power to block or remove content from the social media sites.
The content giving news against institutions and personality and spreading terror will be removed.
The authority has also power to remove online content against army and judiciary while it will also authorize to remove content spreading hatred on basis of religious, sectarian and ethnicity.
The tribunal can be approached against the decision of the authority.
