Pervez Musharraf Resigns From Party Chairmanship

Web Desk(June 22, 2018): Former President Pervez Musharraf on Friday has resigned from the Presidentship of All Pakistan Muslim Leauge(APML).

According to details, the Election Commission has issued directives to remove Musharraf’s name from party presidency.

Musharraf’s lifetime disqualification by Peshawar High Court caused a hindrance in the way of party registration.Now the matters of the party will be dealt by Secretary General of the party, Dr Amjad.

Musharraf Rejects Speculation Regarding His Return:

On June 20, Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf dismissed rumors over his return to Pakistan and said returning to Pakistan in present situation was no wise decision.

In his statement former army chief vowed that he would come to Pakistan, however, he was waiting for suitable time to take such step.“I am not a timid person as I had received medals of bravery,” he said commenting over the impression that he was a timid person.

“I firmly intended to return Pakistan and to lead from front All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) to make a change in Pakistan, however, the situation has not allowed him to fly back to Pakistan,” Musharraf said.

RO Rejects Nomination Papers of Pervez Musharraf:

On June 19, Nomination Papers of Former President, Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday has been rejected from NA-1, Chitral.

Nomination papers of Pervez Musharraf were rejected by the Returning Officer(RO) of NA-1, Chitral, Muhammad Khan.RO Rejects Nomination Papers of Pervez MusharrafEarlier,  the Supreme Court ordered former President Pervez Musharraf to return to Pakistan by 2 pm on June 14.

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar said the apex court would pass an order ensuring authorities not to arrest Musharraf before his appearance in court.

“How is a [brave] commando so afraid?”

Musharraf’s lawyer informed the court that his client was willing to face the treason charges if he was given the guarantee to be protected.

“My client is ill and a medical board had to examine him,” the lawyer said. To this, the chief justice responded that the court would order the constitution of a medical board. “Musharraf can come back to Pakistan in an air ambulance, and we will order the constitution of a medical board,” remarked Chief Justice Nisar.

He said,”The verdict will be announced in compliance with the law upon Musharraf’s failure to follow the orders.”
