Peshawar High Court stopped the Election Commission from taking action against Chief Minister KP

Peshawar: High Court suspended the November 20 notice sent by the EC to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Justice SM Atiq Shah and Justice Faheem Wali of Peshawar High Court heard the petition of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur against the notice of the Election Commission.

Petitioner’s lawyer said, Election Commission had issued a notice to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur regarding assets, earlier the Election Commission had issued a similar notice which was suspended by the court.

Justice SM Atiq Shah said, once the court suspended the notice, then how can the Election Commission send the notice again? You should have filed a contempt of court petition.

Petitioner’s counsel said, there is a difference between the old notice and the present notice.

The court suspended the notice issued by the Election Commission to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on November 20, restrained the Election Commission from taking action against the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and sought a reply from the commission.
