Peshawar Zalmi Beat Islamabad United

LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi beat Islamabad United by 10 runs in the 24th match of the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 at Gaddafi Stadium.

Islamabad took it to the wire but couldn t finish off a 207 chase against Peshawar. They started off with a flourish that was parallel to their opposition. Azam Khan played a scintillating knock that ran Peshawar close.

The innings started brilliantly for Islamabad as Gubraz rode his luck and whacked it everywhere. Wickets made regular appearances but everytime the spinner was on, Azam and some of the others took them apart. The cross seam deliveries very effective and dew did not matter too much as Peshawar held their nerve and win by 10 runs.

This win consolidates Peshawar s position at third place in the Points Table. While the chances of getting to the top two are almost not on, they should get through to the playoffs. Quetta will be the collateral beneficiaries of this game as it still keeps them in the hunch.

Playing first, Peshawar Zalmi set 207 runs target for Islamabad United. Peshawar were absolutely clinical, and were led by a stunning 32-ball 70 from Mohammad Haris, who found his groove rightaway and kept smoking them all through his innings.

Yasir Khan gave him good company, Shoaib Malik carried on, but Faheem Ashraf and Waqas Maqsood with a bunch of slower ones into the pitch, made sure the total didn t go into the 220s, which looked a very strong possibility at one stage.
