Petition filed in Gujranwala seeking case against JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman

GUJRANWALA: A petition has been submitted to a sessions court in Gujranwala seeking the registration of a criminal case against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman over remarks allegedly made during a public speech.

The application was filed before the Sessions Judge by Advocate Manzoor Qadir Bhinder, requesting the court to direct authorities to register a case under multiple legal provisions.

According to the petition, the JUI-F leader allegedly used derogatory language against the Pakistan Army and its martyrs during a speech that was later circulated by media outlets. The petitioner argued that the remarks amounted to an attempt to spread unrest and should be investigated under relevant laws.

The application further alleges that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has pursued politics for personal interests and power, claiming that his stance toward state institutions changes according to the political circumstances.

The petitioner has asked the court to order legal proceedings against the JUI-F chief in accordance with the law. At the time of filing, no court order had been issued on the request, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman had not publicly responded to the allegations contained in the petition.
