Lahore (August 23, 2017): A petition seeking disqualification of 15 legislators of the PMLN including Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has been filed at the Lahore High Court.
Petitioner Azhar Siddiq advocate argues that 15 PMLN legislators are running a campaign against the judiciary and maligning and scandalizing the Supreme Court, which is tantamount to sedition and violation of the constitution of Pakistan.
The petitioner pleading the court to order initiation of contempt of court proceedings against Shahbaz Sharif and the other PMLN legislators, impose a ban on their media coverage, and order registration of a high treason case against them, and be declared disqualified for the position they are holding.
Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif is also violating the constitution by scandalizing the judiciary and action should also be taken against him, the petitioner argues.
