Peshawar: Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday ordered speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly to take oath from candidates elected on the special seats.
The PHC two member bench presided by Justice Atiq Shah pronouced the verdict on the petitions regarding taking oath from members elected on the special seats.
The counsels of opposition members and speaker KP assembly presented their arguments. The advocate general argued his arguments as assistant to the PHC.
The court after hearing the aruguments approved the petitions of the opposition members.
The court in its order said “It is ordered to take oath from the elected members on special seats and take their signatures.”
The court also directed that the members be provided facility to vote in the senate elections.The court said that not convening the KP assembly session is also illegal.
The two member bench issued a short written verdict today as well.
