ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially terminated the appointments of Abdullah Jadoon, President, and Owais Jadoon, Secretary General of the Society of Aircraft Engineers of Pakistan (SAEP), amid escalating tensions between the airline management and its engineering personnel, which has recently impacted flight operations.
A formal notification announced their removal from service, citing their failure to attend scheduled hearings before the PIA CEO on November 4 and 5. The dismissals were carried out in accordance with the airline’s regulations after multiple reminders and opportunities were provided for the officials to present their case.
Sources indicate that the action is linked to the ongoing protests by the engineering staff concerning working conditions and safety issues. The union’s Secretary General, Owais Jadoon, stated that the dismissals are connected to engineers’ refusal to approve aircraft with unresolved technical faults.
He further emphasized their intention to challenge the decision legally, asserting that the engineers’ primary concern has been safety and adherence to aviation maintenance standards. The dispute has drawn attention to the broader issues of safety protocols and labor rights within the airline.
