ISLAMABAD: In a statement on Friday, Dr. Rana Imran, Executive Director of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), revealed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently in custody, underwent specialized eye treatment at the hospital.
Khan had reported experiencing vision issues in his right eye, leading doctors to diagnose him with retinal vein occlusion after comprehensive examinations. An ophthalmologist at Adiala Jail had previously performed an examination, including an OCT scan, to evaluate his eye health.
Khan was transferred to PIMS last Saturday night for treatment, where doctors administered an anti-VEGF injection into his affected eye. The procedure, which lasted about 20 minutes, was described as smooth and without complications.
Dr. Imran stated that Khan has been discharged with instructions for ongoing care and follow-up appointments to ensure proper recovery. The treatment aims to improve his vision and prevent further deterioration.
