Plasma Sell: Court Seeks Report From Blood Transfusion Authority

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the government to take action against people who are selling plasma of recovered COVID-19 patients.

Chief Justice LHC Qasim Khan heard the petition against the sale of plasma by the coronavirus patients while secretary health Nabeel Awan appeared before the court and admitted that blood transfusion authority is not fully operational.

During the hearing of a petition against the selling plasma, Secretary Health acknowledged that people are selling plasma. On this Chief Justice, LHC ordered him to catch those involved in the practice.

The Court asked blood transfusion authority to submit a detail report of the selling of the plasma till July 8.

Earlier, Advocate Arshad Virk moved the petition stating that plasma of recovered coronavirus patients is being sold in violation of the relevant laws that prohibit the sale of blood. The sale of plasma is tantamount to a mockery of the laws, he argued.

The petitioner pleaded with the high court to impose a ban on the sale of plasma.
