RAHIM YAR KHAN: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that 50 new hospitals would be constricted across he country, saying that the government was duty bound to provide inexpensive treatment facilities to the masses especially the poorest of the poor.
Addressing the launching ceremony of National Health Programme in Rahim Yar Khan, the Prime Minister said that National Health Programme was gradually being expanded to cover the entire country.
He said the programme had been started in many districts and today two hundred and fifty thousand families were being registered in Rahim Yar Khan.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said that the programme was directed at poorest of the poor who cannot afford medical treatment. He said it was duty of the government to take care of this segment of the society.
The Prime Minister regretted that in the past projects worth billions of rupees were announced that had no direct bearing on the common man. He said it is incumbent upon rulers to spend money on welfare of the people especially the disadvantaged ones.
Enumerating his government’s initiatives, the said that Lahore-Islamabad Motorway had been constructed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s government, questioning as to why any other government did not pay any heed on it. He said that the incumbent government was constructing Lahore-Karachi motorway. The government has upgraded Railways and was taking measures to bring out Pakistan International Airlines of the financial crunch and turn it into a profitable enterprise.
He said that in 2018, not only power crisis would be overcome but people would get cheat electricity.
