ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister announces to give 5,000 rupees per family to 4 million deserving individuals under the Ramadan Package.
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, announced that cash transfers will be made under the Prime Minister’s Ramadan Relief Package this time.
In a media conversation, Rana Tanveer Hussain stated that under the Prime Minister’s Ramadan Relief Package, 4 million deserving individuals will receive 5,000 rupees in cash per eligible family.
He mentioned that cash transfers will be made to individuals falling under the category of deserving people, and the population in this category is around 20 million.
Rana Tanveer Hussain further said that last year’s subsidy experiment through utility stores was not successful. There was mismanagement at the utility stores, the quality was not up to the mark, and the Prime Minister had received many complaints regarding this.
He added that the utility stores have been instructed to correct their financial model and to negotiate discounts from manufacturers or mill owners while making purchases.
The Federal Minister also stated that the utility stores have assured that they will offer a 15% discount on items without subsidies. Quality checks have been carried out at the utility stores, and the quality has improved. The prices are also lower than the market rates. During Ramadan, utility stores should operate more efficiently and lower the price of sugar.
