PM directs to continue subsidy on fertilizers

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed for continuation of subsidy on fertilizers.

The Prime Minister said that the farmers were the most important contributors to the country’s economy.

Issuing directives to continue subsidy on fertilizers, Nawaz Sharif said that that agriculture was back bone of the national economy and farmers play a pivotal role in strengthening the economy of the country.

The Prime Minister said farmers will be provided all the basic facilities for improvement in GDP of the country.

It is to be mentioned here that an amount of Rs28 billion was allocated for subsidy on fertilizers, which was shared equally by the federal and provincial governments. Upon consumption of the entire amount of Rs28 billion, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and Finance Division had withdrawn further subsidy on fertilizers.

However, the Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to continue the subsidy on fertilizers.
