Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed the officials concerned to devise strategy for improving primary and secondary healthcare system in Islamabad to reduce the burden on tertiary hospitals.
He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, to review progress on construction of Jinnah Medical Complex in the federal capital.
The Prime Minister directed that international standard of specialized healthcare be followed during the construction of Jinnah Medical Complex.
He said this complex will provide world-class healthcare facilities for patients from all four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Prime Minister directed that different blocks of Jinnah Medical Complex be named after the provinces, and transparency and merit be given top priority in its construction and staff recruitment.
He also directed to ensure third-party validation of the construction work.
The meeting was informed that the concept design, transfer of land and appointments of the board are in the final stages.
A geo-tech study is also underway to ensure the best quality of construction and enhance effectiveness of hospital’s impact on the residents of Islamabad and its surrounding areas.
