ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, jointly inaugurated the state-of-the-art Sky47 Karakorum-01 Data Centre.
During the opening ceremony held in Islamabad today, Shehbaz Sharif lauded the establishment of the new data facility as a significant milestone and expressed his optimism that it will be instrumental in Pakistan’s technological evolution and digital development.
He praised the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and all individuals involved in bringing the project to fruition, emphasizing that their dedication and foresight were key to its success. Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the successful completion of this project proves Pakistan’s capacity to overcome obstacles through unity and resolve, positioning the nation for a brighter, more progressive future.
The Prime Minister reflected on Marka-e-Haq as a historic moment for Pakistan, symbolizing that where determination exists, progress is achievable. He underscored that initiatives like the Sky47 Data Centre represent the future trajectory of Pakistan and urged all government institutions to integrate with the platform to maximize its benefits.
He also acknowledged the support of ZTE, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, and other stakeholders for their vital roles in executing the project smoothly. The data centre boasts a capacity of 8.5 megawatts, and plans are underway to establish similar facilities in Karachi and Lahore to further bolster the nation’s digital backbone.
Sky47 stands as Pakistan’s largest carrier-neutral, AI-ready digital infrastructure hub, constructed to international standards. It offers scalable, high-performance computing capabilities designed to support intensive artificial intelligence applications domestically.
Equipped with sovereign cloud architecture and enterprise-grade security measures, the facility safeguards Pakistan’s vital data, ensuring it remains protected, compliant, and securely stored within national borders. This project aims to strengthen Pakistan’s digital sovereignty, enhance resilience, and accelerate the country’s digital transformation journey.
The initiative underscores Pakistan’s commitment to building world-class digital infrastructure capable of meeting the demands of future technological advancements.
