ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed on Tuesday countrywide crackdown against gas theft to overcome the gas crisis.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review matters regarding gas sector in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said no leniency should be given regarding unaccounted for gas loss.
The Prime Minister was briefed that gas worth fifty billion rupees is stolen and consumers have to bear this additional burden as well.
The meeting also decided to immediately import two million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) to meet gas requirements of power and other sectors in upcoming months.
It was briefed that despite all odds, the government is giving a subsidy of about 125 billion rupees to provide relief to 51 per cent of gas consumers.
