ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif unveiled plans on Thursday for a significant expansion of the Danish School network nationwide, reaffirming the government’s dedication to delivering quality, modern education to deserving students across Pakistan.
During the foundation-laying event for a Danish School in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the prime minister highlighted how the initiative embodies Quaid-i-Azam’s vision of equitable access to education for all. He shared updates on the Bagh campus, noting that substantial progress had already been made and announced the formal inauguration date of 23 March 2026.
He also revealed plans for new Danish Schools in Neelum Valley and Forward Kahuta, with the latter approved in response to a request from the AJK prime minister. Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Danish Schools have created educational opportunities throughout Pakistan, ensuring every enrolled student benefits from advanced facilities and merit-based learning.
AJK Prime Minister Faisal Rathore expressed gratitude for federal support, lauding Shehbaz Sharif’s visit during a critical period. He commended the establishment of Danish Schools as evidence of Shehbaz’s lifelong commitment to education and credited the PDM-led administration for restoring public trust. Additionally, Rathore praised Pakistan’s recent diplomatic successes and acknowledged the armed forces’ contributions, noting their role in elevating the country’s global image.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal described the Danish School system as a realization of Shehbaz Sharif’s vision, originally conceived during his tenure as Punjab chief minister. With this project now expanding nationwide, Iqbal stressed that investing in future generations represents the most impactful service a leader can provide. He highlighted the growing significance of technology, knowledge, and innovation in shaping tomorrow’s world.
Federal Minister Amir Muqam emphasized that talented students had long awaited such initiatives, labeling the Danish Schools expansion as a historic milestone. He credited PM Shehbaz for consistently achieving challenging goals, citing both his current endeavors and previous accomplishments under the PDM government.
Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmed reflected on the origins of the Danish School system, first launched in 2010 to empower underserved but capable students. He confirmed the upgrade of the Punjab Danish Authority into the Pakistan Danish Authority and announced plans for a new campus at Harighel Bagh.
Speakers throughout the event underscored how the Danish School network is transforming education for thousands of children. With recent commitments from Shehbaz Sharif, this initiative is poised to expand more rapidly than ever before.
