PM instructs energy ministry to take measures to reduce inflated bills in 24 hours

Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Ul Haq Kakar on Sunday instructed to form solid measures to reduce inflated bills in the next 24 hours.

The interim PM Kakar presided first emergency meeting on inflated bills.

The caretaker cabinet ministers Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar, Gohar Aijaz, Murtaza Solangi, advisor PM Dr Waqar Masood, secretory power, Chairman WAPDA, Chairman NEPRA and other high officials.

The PM was given detailed breifing on inflated bills of month July in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the PM said that we will not take any step in haste that resulted into harm for the country.

PM Anwar Ul Haq Kakar said that it is not possible that common man faces missery and bureaucracy and the PM use free electricity on their taxes adding that if he has to close his room air conditioner then he will do so undoubtedly.

He said he represented the common man, adding the electricity expenditure of the Prime Minister House and Pakistan Secretariat should be reduced as much as possible.

Anwar Ul Haq Kakar instructed the energy ministry officials to present roadmaps of Distribution of electricity companies regarding the electricity theft.

He also directed respective ministries and respective institutions provide complete details of officers and institutions who are using free electricity.

The energy ministry officials apprised that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) determines the electricity tariff adding that fuel price adjustment also effect the prices of the electricity.

They further apprised that the large difference of electricity prices implemented to consumers using more than 400 units.

The last year the electricity tariff of for the month of July was as much as Rs 31. 02 per unit which after increase has become Rs 33. 89 per unit.

It was also decided during the meeting that detailed consultation on the issue of excessive bills of July, and implementation of energy saving measures will be discussed with the provincial chief ministers tomorrow [Monday].

The decision for providing releif to the masses teased by exorbitant electricity could not be take today. The meeting was adjourned till tomorrow (Monday).
