PM Invites US, Iran for Islamabad talks following ceasefire breakthrough

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited delegations from Iran and the United States to Islamabad for high-level negotiations after both sides agreed to an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire across the region, including Lebanon.

In a statement shared on social media, the prime minister welcomed the development, expressing appreciation for the leadership of both nations and their willingness to de-escalate tensions. He confirmed that talks are scheduled for Friday, April 10, aimed at reaching a lasting resolution to the conflict.

Sharif noted that the parties have demonstrated “remarkable prudence and mutual understanding” throughout the mediation process, remaining engaged in efforts to restore regional stability.

He also expressed optimism about the upcoming dialogue dubbed the “Islamabad Talks” saying Pakistan hopes the negotiations will pave the way for durable peace, with further positive developments expected in the coming days.
