ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed serious concern over a newly reported polio case in the Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan and directed authorities to intensify immunization efforts in the region.
During a meeting in Islamabad with Federal Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal and the Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio, Ayesha Raza Farooq, the prime minister called for immediate action to address gaps in the ongoing vaccination campaign.
According to a statement from the PM Office, the premier emphasized the need for strict monitoring in union councils where polio cases continue to surface and vaccination coverage remains inadequate.
He stressed the importance of proactive measures to prevent the spread of the virus and safeguard children across the country.
