PM returns to Islamabad following the conclusion of an official visit to Saudi Arabia.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif returned to Islamabad after concluding his official visit to Saudi Arabia.

At King Khalid International Airport, the Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation were bid farewell by Riyadh’s Deputy Governor, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz.

During the visit, the Prime Minister met with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The two leaders inaugurated a framework for economic cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, marking a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral economic ties.

The Economic Cooperation Framework focuses on deepening collaboration in key areas such as energy, industry, mining, information technology, tourism, agriculture, and food security. It also aims to boost private sector engagement and encourage greater trade exchanges between the two countries.

The discussions also included updates on several ongoing joint projects, including power transmission initiatives and the signing of agreements in the energy sector.

The Prime Minister participated in the 9th Future Investment Initiative conference held in Riyadh, where he contributed to a roundtable discussion themed “Is Humanity Moving in the Right Direction?”

In his remarks, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance of global collaboration for human development and welfare. He praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his forward-thinking vision and Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in leading global development efforts.

He further emphasized his government’s commitment to empowering Pakistan’s youth, fostering advancements in artificial intelligence, and accelerating growth in the information technology sector. Additionally, during the visit, he met with Børge Brende, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum, to explore avenues for deeper economic collaboration and development opportunities.
