Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is presiding an important huddle at the prime minister house on an issue which has been under discussion in the opposition and government circles for two months.
The President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahbaz Sharif is heading a meeting to appoint a new army chief.
It is said that the Defence Ministry has sent a summary comprising five names of senior most lieutenant generals for Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC)
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Law Minister Ayaz Saddiq, Interior Minister Rana Sana Ullah and others ministers are attending the meeting.
It is likely that progress will be made in this ongoing huddle.
As per the defence minister earlier statement that the matter of an appointment of army chief will be concluded on Tuesday or Wednesday.
