PM Shehbaz Arrives in Azerbaijan for 17th ECO Summit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has touched down in Azerbaijan to participate in the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, taking place in Khankendi, Azerbaijan.

Upon arrival, he was warmly received by Azerbaijani Culture Minister Adil Karmali and senior government officials. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi for the two-day official visit.

The summit is being held in the city of Shusha, and the theme for this year’s gathering is “New ECO Vision for a Sustainable and Climate Resilient Future.” During the event, PM Shehbaz will lead the Pakistani delegation and will share Pakistan’s views on pressing regional and international issues.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister is expected to reaffirm the country’s commitment to the ECO Vision 2025, emphasizing the importance of boosting intra-regional trade, enhancing transport links, energy cooperation, and sustainable development initiatives.

In addition to participating in the summit, Shehbaz Sharif will hold bilateral meetings with other ECO member leaders to discuss areas of common interest and cooperation. The Foreign Office had previously stated that the Prime Minister would outline Pakistan’s position on major regional and global matters, support the ECO Vision 2025, and advocate for stronger regional connectivity and collaborative growth.
