ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a phone conversation on Wednesday with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, emphasizing the need for an immediate halt to ongoing hostilities in the Middle East.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office Pakistan, the prime minister praised Saudi Arabia’s measured approach amid rising regional tensions and urged all sides to work toward restoring peace and stability.
During the call, Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned recent attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support and solidarity with the Kingdom and its people.
He also highlighted the importance of restraint in the current crisis, assuring the Saudi leadership that Pakistan would continue to stand by the Kingdom, just as it has in the past.
Call for Unity and Dialogue
The prime minister stressed the urgent need for de-escalation, calling on all parties involved to cease hostilities and return to normalcy. He underscored the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah, urging collective efforts to address the crisis.
Shehbaz Sharif also briefed the Crown Prince on Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at promoting dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution.
In response, the Crown Prince appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace, with both leaders agreeing to maintain close coordination at all levels.
Wider Diplomatic Efforts
Separately, the prime minister extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the royal family, and the people of Saudi Arabia via a message on X.
The conversation comes amid escalating tensions involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Pakistan has been actively engaged in diplomatic outreach and has offered to host talks between Washington and Tehran, while coordinating with regional partners such as Turkey and Egypt to support peace efforts.
