PM Shehbaz highlights Pakistan’s success in managing essential Goods supply Amid Middle East Tensions

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his satisfaction that Pakistan is effectively managing the supply and demand of vital commodities amidst the ongoing Middle East conflict.

Chairing a high-level review meeting on developing strategies to shield the country from potential economic and financial repercussions of regional instability, the Prime Minister emphasized that several nations are struggling to maintain equilibrium in essential goods markets under current circumstances.

He instructed relevant authorities to craft a comprehensive plan aimed at minimizing economic impacts on the public, ensuring that production and supply chains across different sectors remain unaffected.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of considering both external global trends and internal macroeconomic factors while formulating these strategies. He praised the swift and effective actions taken by institutions to prevent any emergency disruptions in the availability of essential goods.

Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted that, alongside meeting domestic needs for food and essentials, efforts are progressing well on strategies to export surplus production.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he stated that all necessary measures will be undertaken to promote economic stability, growth, and public well-being. He called for the development of medium- and long-term strategies to counteract the financial impact of rising global prices, urging close coordination among ministries and agencies to ensure stability across all economic sectors.

The Prime Minister also directed the formulation of measures to mitigate the effects of rising production costs on exports and overall economic output, emphasizing the importance of utilizing available resources efficiently to prevent setbacks in agriculture and industry during these challenging times.

During the briefing, officials informed that daily reviews of the economic impact are ongoing across relevant ministries, aligned with the Prime Minister’s directives. 

The meeting also focused on long-term planning to address the economic challenges posed by regional tensions.

He appreciated the unified efforts of all institutions and ministries and commended their role in maintaining the supply-demand balance of essential goods despite difficult conditions, vowing to continue working towards economic resilience.
