ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephonic discussion with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during which he offered Pakistan’s active participation in fostering peace across the Middle East and highlighted the significance of regional diplomacy.
During the conversation, PM Shehbaz extended his best wishes to US President Donald Trump and acknowledged Secretary Rubio’s diplomatic efforts in preventing potential conflict between Pakistan and India. He also appreciated Trump’s previous positive remarks about Pakistan, describing them as a positive sign for peace in South Asia.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to engage in constructive dialogue with India on various unresolved issues, including the Kashmir conflict, the Indus Waters Treaty, trade relations, and counter-terrorism cooperation.He underscored the importance of finding a peaceful solution to the Iran-Israel tensions and expressed Pakistan’s willingness to contribute constructively towards peace initiatives in the Middle East.
Looking ahead, PM Shehbaz stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and the US, particularly in areas such as trade, energy, information technology, and mineral development.He also reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance against banned terrorist groups like BLA and TTP, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism across the country.
Highlighting recent diplomatic engagements, he mentioned the positive meeting between Field Marshal Asim Munir and President Trump, and extended an official invitation to President Trump for a visit to Pakistan.Furthermore, he formally invited Secretary Rubio to visit Pakistan in the near future.
In response, Secretary Rubio praised Pakistan’s efforts in counter-terrorism and assured continued US support in combatting terrorism. He commended Pakistan’s regional peace initiatives and emphasized that Pakistan’s relations with Iran could play an important role in ensuring regional stability
