ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has left for Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the upcoming annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled from January 20 to 22, 2026.
He is accompanied by a senior delegation including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, along with other key officials.
During his stay, the Prime Minister will engage in several diplomatic and economic discussions, including bilateral meetings with global leaders and representatives of international organizations.
Pakistan will co-host a significant business roundtable in collaboration with the WEF, which aims to bring together leading global corporate executives interested in exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan or expanding their current ventures.
The Prime Minister’s agenda also includes participation in the WEF’s informal session titled “Restoring a Spirit of Dialogue in a Divided World,” and he will lead a Pakistan-specific High-Level Business Roundtable with international business leaders.
At the forum, Shehbaz Sharif will present Pakistan’s stance on regional and global peace and development issues, emphasizing the government’s initiatives and achievements in economic growth, trade, and attracting foreign investment.
The WEF’s Annual Meeting convenes political figures, business leaders, representatives of international organizations, and civil society to discuss pressing geopolitical, economic, social, and environmental issues.
Under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue,” this year’s forum will focus on five critical areas: fostering cooperation in a competitive world, unlocking new growth avenues, investing in human capital, promoting responsible innovation, and building sustainable prosperity within planetary limits.
