SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a series of high-level diplomatic discussions on Monday during the International Peace Conference held in Sharm el-Sheikh. The summit attracted prominent world leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, with whom Shehbaz Sharif had a brief yet cordial meeting.
During their encounter, the Pakistani premier and the U.S. leader exchanged warm greetings and touched upon various bilateral and international issues. The meeting drew considerable attention amid renewed international focus on Middle East peace efforts and humanitarian concerns related to Gaza.
Throughout the conference, Shehbaz Sharif held meetings with several heads of state and government officials. Among these were Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The discussions covered topics such as regional stability, peace initiatives in the Middle East, humanitarian aid for Gaza, and fostering dialogue between neighboring nations. The prime minister underscored the importance of a united global stance to end ongoing hostilities and establish sustainable peace.
In addition, Shehbaz Sharif met with key international figures including United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. During these conversations, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and emphasized the importance of protecting civilian lives in Gaza through diplomatic channels.
A noteworthy aspect of his visit was the meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The two leaders exchanged warm sentiments, highlighting the longstanding brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Palestine. Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa also participated in this meeting, reflecting regional concern over Gaza’s humanitarian crisis. President Abbas expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s consistent support and diplomatic backing for Palestine, especially in light of recent ceasefire developments. Both leaders discussed future international efforts aimed at peace, reconstruction, and stability in Gaza.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to the resilience and courage of the Palestinian people, reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with their struggle for rights and dignity. Upon arrival at Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport, the prime minister was welcomed by Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi. His active participation in the peace conference highlights Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue, resolve conflicts, and support humanitarian endeavors across the Middle East region.
