PM Shehbaz reiterates centre’s commitment to Gilgit-Baltistan’s progress

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the federal government’s resolve to support the newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan administration in advancing the region’s development and improving the lives of its people.

The assurance came during a meeting with Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain, who called on the prime minister in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the prime minister said the federal government is pursuing a range of development projects across Gilgit-Baltistan, focusing on renewable energy, tourism, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other key sectors aimed at promoting sustainable growth.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the Centre’s priority initiatives include the construction of a 100-megawatt solar power project and the establishment of Daanish Schools to enhance educational opportunities in the region.

He also announced plans to set up a Pakistan Asaan Khidmat Centre in Gilgit to improve access to public services and facilitate local residents.

The prime minister congratulated Amjad Hussain on taking office as the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan and expressed hope that the provincial government and the Centre would work together for the region’s continued development.
