PM Shehbaz Sharif arrives in Davos to represent Pakistan at WEF 2026

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, touched down in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday to participate in the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting scheduled from January 20 to 22, 2026.

Upon arrival at Zurich Airport, he was warmly welcomed by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Muhammad Bilal, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Marghoob Saleem, and other diplomatic personnel based in Switzerland.

Shehbaz Sharif is leading a distinguished delegation comprising senior officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and other key figures, according to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The prime minister’s agenda in Davos includes participating in high-level diplomatic and economic discussions, as well as conducting bilateral meetings with various global leaders, heads of state, and representatives of international organizations.

A notable highlight of his visit will be a joint Pakistan-WEF business roundtable, which aims to bring together influential leaders from international corporations to explore investment prospects in Pakistan and discuss opportunities to expand existing business relationships.

Sharing his thoughts on social media, Shehbaz Sharif stated, “Arrived in Davos to strengthen Pakistan’s engagement with global trade and investment partners at the World Economic Forum.” He emphasized that Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms are opening up significant opportunities, driven by a resilient and resourceful workforce, with promising prospects in sectors such as energy, agriculture, minerals, and emerging technologies.

He further expressed optimism about transforming these opportunities into mutually beneficial economic collaborations and long-term investments, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a vibrant economic partnership with the world.
