KARACHI: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended warm congratulations to the leadership and people of Qatar on their National Day, emphasizing the enduring friendship and robust partnership between the two nations.
During a ceremony held to celebrate Qatar’s National Day, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s unwavering support and solidarity with Qatar. He reflected on the deep bonds shared by both countries, noting that Pakistan “stands with Qatar in thought and action,” and underscoring that a nation’s true strength resides in its people.
Shehbaz Sharif praised Qatar’s impressive development journey under the Qatar National Vision 2030, highlighting its recent achievements , from successfully hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022 to playing a prominent role in regional peace efforts. He described Qatar’s leadership as “inspiring” and highlighted the multifaceted relationship encompassing energy, trade, investment, and the vibrant Pakistani community residing there.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the significant contributions of Pakistani workers in Qatar, commending their dignity and dedication in supporting Qatar’s growth. He also pointed out Qatar’s strategic investments in renewable energy and other sectors, emphasizing the mutual benefits of economic cooperation.
Recalling his visits to Qatar one to show solidarity during regional conflicts and another to attend the Arab-Islamic Summit — Shehbaz Sharif praised Qatar’s diplomatic initiatives aimed at promoting peace and stability. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a “prosperous and interconnected region” and wished Qatar continued success on its path toward peace, development, and global leadership.
Earlier, Qatar’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, highlighted the strong brotherly ties between the two nations. He stressed Qatar’s commitment to deepening cooperation across various sectors and reaffirmed Qatar’s appreciation for its long-standing relationship with Pakistan.
The ambassador also paid homage to Qatar’s role in humanitarian efforts worldwide, supporting communities affected by conflict and disasters, and promoting dialogue for peaceful resolutions. He expressed Qatar’s eagerness to strengthen bilateral relations further and collaborate with Pakistan for mutual progress.
Later in the day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif joined key dignitaries, including Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Qatar’s ambassador, at a ceremonial cake-cutting event to mark the occasion of Qatar’s National Day.
