ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached out to global leaders from Egypt, Oman, and Qatar, offering warm Eid Al-Fitr greetings and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening international ties.
In a phone call with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, PM Shehbaz expressed his best wishes for peace and prosperity, highlighting the longstanding cultural and historical relations between the two nations. He emphasized the need to enhance cooperation in sectors such as trade, investment, energy, IT, and defense. The Prime Minister also praised the recent visit of Pakistan’s Minister of Commerce to Muscat and extended an invitation for Sultan Haitham to visit Pakistan. The Sultan reciprocated with warm wishes for the people of Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz also spoke with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, extending his Eid greetings and wishing prosperity to the leadership and people of Egypt. Reflecting on his visit to Cairo during the D-8 Summit in December, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s desire to further deepen cooperation with Egypt in various fields. Both leaders discussed key regional and global issues, with President el-Sisi also sending his Eid greetings and expressing support for strengthening bilateral ties. The Prime Minister requested Egypt’s assistance in Pakistan’s hepatitis program, which Egypt’s Ministry of Health plans to address through a high-level delegation visiting Pakistan after Eid.
In a separate conversation with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the deep-rooted brotherly relationship between Pakistan and Qatar. The Prime Minister commended the Emir’s efforts in promoting peace in Gaza and acknowledged Qatar’s pivotal role in global diplomacy. Sheikh Tamim reciprocated with Eid greetings and confirmed plans for a high-level Qatari delegation to visit Pakistan post-Eid, focusing on investment opportunities. PM Shehbaz proposed hosting a cultural exhibition in Lahore to celebrate the rich ties between Pakistan and Qatar and invited the Emir to visit Pakistan.
Through these interactions, PM Shehbaz underscored Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to enhancing diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations with these key nations.
