ISLAMABAD: In a move to deepen the growing ties between Pakistan and Belarus, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a meeting with Belarusian Interior Minister in Islamabad, aimed at facilitating employment opportunities for skilled Pakistani workers in Belarus.
This landmark agreement is expected to create new avenues for Pakistani professionals and further strengthen bilateral people-to-people connections. The MoU was signed following a welcoming ceremony for a high-level Belarusian delegation led by Interior Minister Aleksandr Lukashenko, who is visiting Pakistan.
The official talks not only focused on bolstering diplomatic relations but also built upon the momentum generated during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Minsk in April 2025. During the discussions, the Prime Minister conveyed greetings to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and expressed Pakistan’s openness to hosting him in the near future.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that bilateral relations are steadily improving, underpinned by mutual respect and expanding cooperation across various sectors. In response, Belarusian Interior Minister Aleksandr Lukashenko appreciated the warm hospitality and reaffirmed Belarus’s commitment to enhancing collaboration in multiple fields. He also visited Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), exploring ways to improve governance and identity management.
Both leaders expressed a shared interest in working together on trade, technological innovation, education, and security cooperation. The meeting underscores a strategic intent to convert diplomatic goodwill into tangible partnerships, fostering long-term collaboration between the two nations.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, recently traveled to the United Kingdom for a three-day official visit aimed at broadening Pakistan-UK relations and exploring joint initiatives across diverse sectors.
The Foreign Office described the trip as a demonstration of Pakistan’s commitment to inclusive diplomacy, emphasizing efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and harness innovation for socio-economic progress.
