WEB DESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev during an official visit on Tuesday, where he thanked the government and people of Azerbaijan for their unwavering support for Pakistan during India’s provocative actions.
The Premier was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Gen Syed Asim Munir, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. PM Shehbaz extended congratulations to President Aliyev and the Azerbaijani nation on the occasion of their Independence Day, emphasising the timeless bond between the people of both nations.
Both leaders reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over political, economic, defence and cultural cooperation between the two countries. They agreed to enhance their partnership through increased investments in diverse sectors.“The two nations have always stood by each other,” PM Shehbaz said.
The two sides also agreed to facilitate the exchange of delegations to accelerate progress on Azerbaijani investment initiatives in Pakistan. It was also decided that high-level official meetings would be held shortly.The prime minister said that holding this meeting in Lachin symbolises Azerbaijan’s resilience and journey of recovery — sentiments deeply shared by both nations.
Both leaders highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to promote regional stability, mutual prosperity, and a principled stance on key global issues.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the Pakistan-Azerbaijan partnership and advancing shared objectives at both bilateral and regional level.
