PM Shehbaz, UAE President discuss strategic partnership, economic cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held discussions with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, at Sheikh Zayed Palace in Rahim Yar Khan this afternoon.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Sen. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Ata Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials.  

In their warm and friendly meeting, the two leaders continued the dialogue from their recent encounter in Islamabad on December 26, 2025, which marked Sheikh Mohamed’s first official visit to Pakistan as UAE President.

The Prime Minister emphasized his strong commitment to transforming the longstanding brotherly relationship between Pakistan and the UAE into a strategic and mutually advantageous economic alliance. He highlighted the importance of significantly boosting bilateral trade to reach new heights.  

Discussions also covered ways to deepen cooperation across various sectors including information technology, energy, mining and minerals, and defense collaboration.

Expressing admiration for the UAE’s impressive development under Sheikh Mohamed’s visionary leadership, the Prime Minister thanked the UAE President for his support and dedication to strengthening the bilateral relationship. He also acknowledged the vital role played by the approximately 2.1 million Pakistanis residing in the UAE, who contribute to the bonds between the two nations.  

Beyond bilateral ties, the leaders exchanged perspectives on multiple regional and global issues. The meeting marked the culmination of a year characterized by high-level engagements between Pakistan and the UAE, underscoring the importance of their partnership.
