PM Shehbaz visits Pakistan Navy Dockyard to honor Maritime contributions

KARACHI: In a show of support and recognition, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the Pakistan Navy Dockyard on Monday to commend the navy’s vital role in national defense and operations.

The visit, highlighted by the Pakistan Navy’s strategic and operational achievements, was announced by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The prime minister was warmly welcomed by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. Senior military leaders, including Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Baber Sidhu, accompanied the delegation, emphasizing the importance of joint military efforts.

During his tour, PM Shehbaz boarded the Type-054A Class Destroyer PNS TAIMUR, where he received a detailed briefing from Commander Pakistan Fleet. The briefing covered the navy’s strategic priorities, operational activities, and notable contributions in ongoing security operations.

In his interactions with officers and sailors, the prime minister praised their professionalism, readiness, and dedication to safeguarding the nation. He expressed the government’s deep appreciation for their efforts and reaffirmed confidence in the armed forces’ capabilities.

Addressing the gathering, PM Shehbaz lauded the Pakistan Navy’s resilient posture and operational agility, emphasizing its critical role in protecting maritime borders, securing sea trade routes, and maintaining sovereignty. He highlighted the navy’s contributions to maritime security and deterrence, noting their importance in countering external threats at sea.

He also recalled historic naval operations, including Operation Dwarka, underscoring Pakistan Navy’s ability to conduct high-intensity maritime operations when needed. The prime minister assured the navy of ongoing support and national backing.

The visit was attended by several government ministers, including Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Education Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening maritime defense and strategic capabilities.
