ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his appreciation for Google’s decision to establish offices and invest in Pakistan. In a statement issued today, he highlighted the opening of a manufacturing facility for Google products in Haripur as a positive development.
The Prime Minister noted that international technology giants like Google are showing confidence in Pakistan’s business environment and government policies aimed at fostering ease of doing business and attracting investment.He emphasized that locally manufacturing IT products would not only reduce costs for Pakistani consumers but also bolster export opportunities, thereby increasing foreign exchange earnings for the country.
Making Pakistan a digital nation remains a top priority for the government, PM Shehbaz stated. He reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering youth in the IT sector, citing the MoU signed with Google for IT training as a key initiative in this regard.The Prime Minister also mentioned that the government is distributing laptops to 100,000 talented young individuals to provide them with the necessary tools to excel in the digital economy.
He highlighted ongoing IT training programs for youth and women across Pakistan, aimed at enhancing their competitiveness in the global service industry and enabling them to become financially independent.PM Shehbaz concluded by reaffirming the government’s efforts to position Pakistan as a regional hub for information technology. He also appreciated the dedication of the Federal Minister for IT and her team for their efforts in advancing the country’s IT sector.
