PM vows to boost country’s exports to $60 billion by 2029

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on the completion of one-year of his government, has expressed the resolve of increasing exports to sixty billion dollars by 2029.

He said this while chairing a special meeting of Federal Cabinet in Islamabad today.

The Prime Minister said economy is getting stronger and stable as a result of team work and coordinated efforts of coalition partners. He said Vision-2035 is aimed at making Pakistan a one-trillion dollars economy by 2035.

He said foreign exchange reserves surged to around thirteen billion dollars from mere four billion dollars, while inflation declined to 1.6 percent from 28 percent, policy rate decreased to twelve percent from 22.5 percent and exports, especially IT exports are growing.

Shehbaz Sharif said e-governance is being promoted to ensure transparency. He said digitization of Federal Board of Revenue is also being ensured.

He further said government is inviting industrialists to invest in Pakistan by taking advantage of business-friendly policies in the country.

The Prime Minister said first Pakistani astronaut will travel into space under Pakistan-China joint partnership.

He said opposition is unable to find any scandal of government which is a testament of government’s transparency and credibility.

Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the role of all the institutions for their efforts in putting country on path of economic stability and progress.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the sacrifices of armed forces and other law enforcement agencies in fighting terrorism in the country.
