PML-N believes in freedom of expression: Maryam Aurangzeb

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcast Maryam Aurangzeb has said that the incivility culture, which Imran Khan promoted, has clutched Imran himself, adding that PML-N believes in freedom of expression.

Talking to media after meeting with Parliamentary Reporters Association officials and reporters, Maryam Aurangzeb said that code of conduct must be kept in mind for expression of opinion. She said that propositions can be given for journalists protection bill, adding that attempts to be made to increase capabilities of people associated with journalism; hence the promotion and development of journalists is in her priorities.

She said that programs are being launched to train Parliamentary Reporters Association, while government will focus on development of basic structure regarding media. She said that we all will have to contribute to strengthen and make Pakistan developed country. She continued that politics culture must be changed and the civilized politics must be developed. She said that the struggles of Mushahidullah and Pervez Rasheed for democracy cannot be neglected at any cost. Members do criticize Parliamentary role, but instead of criticizing shoes and purse, the criticism must be positive. Compare the attendance of our House with other countries including India and Bangladesh, the difference will itself clarify. She said that the incivility culture which Imran Khan has promoted, Gandapur and Naeem-ul-Haq demonstrated the same incivility.

Minister for Information and Broadcast Maryam Aurangzeb also met Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Parliament House, while Sadiq congratulated her for taking responsibilities of Information Minister. She expressed confidence over capabilities of Maryam Aurangzeb, saying that Maryam Aurangzeb has earned a name due to her positivity, soft heartedness and low tone.

Maryam Aurangzeb, in a statement, also congratulated Mian Amir Mahmood for being elected as Chairman PBA and expressed hope that government believes in freedom of expression and will continue to provide facilities for the development of independent media.
