Islamabad (June 12, 2017): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) gave party ticket for by-election on PS-114 Karachi to Ali Akbar Gujjar.
According to PML-N leader and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Asif Kirmani, part chief Nawaz Sharif issued party ticket to Ali Akbar after consultation with party leaders.

It is to be mentioned here that PS-114 fell vacant after an election tribunal de-seated PML-N MPA Irfanullah Marwat over rigging allegations and ordered re-elections on the seat.
Marwat had returned as successful candidate from the constituency in 2013 elections defeating among others his closest rival MQM’s Rauf Siddiqui.
Siddiqui challenged his election in election tribunal alleging widespread rigging. The tribunal ordered fresh election on the seat by declaring Marwat election as null and void.
Marwat challenged the tribunal’s decision in Supreme Court. However, SC rejected Marwat’s appeal and upheld the tribunal decision.
