Islamabad: Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication Ayesha Raza Farooq inaugurated the campaign in Islamabad.
The launch event, held at the National Emergency Operations Centre in Islamabad, was led by the PM’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, alongside National Coordinator Muhammad Anwar-ul-Haq, Programme’s core leadership, and representatives from partner organizations.
To mark the start of this critical campaign, they jointly administered polio drops and Vitamin A to children — reinforcing the collective commitment to overall child health.
Speaking on the occasion, she said eradication of polio is our national duty and commitment.
She extended deep gratitude to the 400,000 frontline workers driving this campaign including 225,000 female vaccinators.
The Pakistan Polio Programme officially launched the third round of the National Immunisation Days (NIDs) for 2025 today, aiming to vaccinate over 45 million children under the age of five across the country.

UNICEF Pakistan’s outgoing Representative, Mr. Abdullah A. Fadil, thanked the Government of Pakistan and noted: “With continued political commitment, community trust, and coordinated efforts by all partners, Pakistan will achieve a polio-free future.”
On the other hand, a nationwide anti-polio campaign of varied duration will commence from Monday.
