Islamabad: Policy level talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to receive next tranche of one billion dollar will kick start from tomorrow, Monday.
New financial Year budget will come under discussion in the policy level talks while the policy level talks also includes consultation on the economic targets .
Sources said that the policy level talks will end next week after which the IMF mission will issue its statement regarding the talks.
The Economic review mission of the IMF will present its report to the Executive board which will take final decision for approval of the one billion dollar.
During the technical phase talks the IMF demanded do more from Pakistan.
It has given a suggestion of imposing surcharge of Rs 2.80 on the electricity while it also stressed to gradually increase levy on Petroleum from Rs 60 to Rs 70.
The IMF mission also gave its suggestion of the government economic team regarding imposing carbon tax for protection of the environment.
The government opposed all the suggestions except imposing surcharge on electricity.
