GILGIT: Poling for by-election on Gilgit-Bltistan Legislative Assembly ‘s constituency GBLA-6 Hunza is underway, which will continue till 5:00pm without any break.
Earlier, by-election on the seat had been postponed thrice by the election commission on different grounds.
The seat fell vacant when MLA from the constituency Ghazanfar Ali Khan was appointed as Governor Gilgit-Baltistan. The commission has established 58 polling stations for the by-election. There are a total of 36320 registered voters in the constituency.
Though the election for the constituency is being contested by Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Awami Workers Party and various independent candidates, a tough fight is expected between PML-N candidate Saleem Khan and an independent candidate Obaidullah Baig.
