Islamabad/Karachi/Lahore/Peshawar/Quetta: Polling timing for the presidential elections has ended as clock turned 4 pm at the joint session of the parliament and four provincial assemblies while counting of votes started.
Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Amir Farooq as a presiding officer announced the end of the timing for the presidential elections.
All the gates of the parliament house are close after the announcement.
The presiding officer directed members of the assembly and senators and assembly staff to take their seats except polling agents of the both candidates.
Earlier voting process concluded in the KP and Sindh Assemblies.
The voting process for the presidential elections in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has concluded.
As many as 118 members have to cast votes out of total strenght of KP assembly 145 while 109 members have casted their votes.
The Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) nine members of the assembly didn’t cast their votes.
While on the orders of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) the members elected on special seats have been barred casting their votes by extending the prohibition order till March 13 on the petition of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) against unfair distribution of special seats.
The polling process also completed in the Sindh Assembly for the presidential elections.
The total number of seats in Sindh Assembly are 162.
While 161 members of Sindh Assembly (MPAs) out of 162 cast their votes.
Jamat Islami (JI) MPA Muhammad Farhan Farooq didn’t cast his votes.
As many as 352 MPAs cast their votes in the presidential elections.
On the other hand 47 MPAs of the Balochistan Assembly cast their votes while the counting of votes are underway.
