ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) will hold polls for electing chairmen of six standing committees on Monday (today).
Sources said that chairmen of the six NA standing committees will belong to opposition parties.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz nominated Iftikhar Nazir for chairmanship of NA Standing Committee for Defence Production while PML-N’s Najeeb Owaisi was nominated for the education committee.
Ibadullah will head NA Standing Committee for Communications while Jamiat Uleme-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s son Asad Mehmood was nominated for the committee of religious affairs.
Salahuddin Ayubi of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) was nominated for anti-narcotics committee while chairmanship of NA Standing Committee for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Development Affairs will be given to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
