Pope Francis urges worldwide ceasefire, peace this Christmas

VATICAN CITY: During the solemn Christmas observances within Vatican City, Pope Francis delivered a heartfelt appeal for an end to the persistent conflicts plaguing various parts of the world.

In his holiday message, he underscored the significance of peace and called on nations to unite in efforts to halt violence and alleviate human suffering.

The Holy Father specifically honored the resilience of Palestinians in Gaza, acknowledging their struggles, and he prayed earnestly for peace, justice, and stability across Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, and Ukraine. His message emphasized the need for collective action to promote reconciliation and harmony in these troubled regions.

Worldwide, Christmas celebrations continue with devotion. In Iraq, special church services marked the occasion, while in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, Christians gathered for prayer and joyful worship. Despite the destruction wrought by war, Palestinians in Gaza also observed Christmas, offering prayers for peace and hope for harmony in the region.
